Matt Canning, the General Manager of Hotel Vermont in Burlington, has been promoted.
Matt Canning joined Westport Hospitality in 2013 and played a pivotal role in the opening of Hotel Vermont. Canning is ready to take over as general manager from van Wees, having held a variety of positions including assistant general manager, F&B manager, and front office manager. Canning, a native of South Burlington, has had a significant impact on Vermont’s hospitality scene with his work in beer tourism, agriculture, and restaurant development. He is passionate about local food and drink. “I am excited to apply what I have learned to continue elevating Hotel Vermont as a leader in the hospitality industry, having worked closely with Hans over the past ten years,” Canning says. “As a lifelong lover of hospitality, I am excited to work with our incredible and diverse team to expand our footprint in the Burlington area.”
