Durba Datta has been named the new Director of Housekeeping at the Marriott Executive Apartments at the Westin Mumbai Powai Lake & Lakeside Chalet in Mumbai. With more than ten years of experience in the hospitality sector, Datta promises to maintain and improve the high standards of service and cleanliness for which The Westin Mumbai Powai Lake is known. She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new position.
Datta has a distinguished career with Oberoi Hotels and Resorts, having worked in a number of important roles such as Deputy Manager-Housekeeping, Assistant Executive Housekeeper, and Executive Housekeeper. Her vast experience includes working at several esteemed establishments, including The Oberoi Grand in Kolkata, The Oberoi in Mumbai, and The Oberoi Raj Vilas in Jaipur. She has received recognition for her abilities to oversee sizable, multidisciplinary teams, put effective operational procedures into place, and provide outstanding guest experiences.
She successfully oversaw the 71-acre Oberoi Raj Vilas property’s housekeeping operations, which included on-site laundry and landscape maintenance. She also led the housekeeping team at The Oberoi Grand, continuously going above and beyond for guests while upholding high service standards. In the pre-opening task force for The Oberoi New Delhi and The Oberoi Marrakech, Datta was instrumental in setting up and executing the housekeeping operations with success. She demonstrated her dedication to excellence and attention to detail in her first year as an Executive Housekeeper by winning the Best Housekeeping Team Award for July–September 2021 across Oberoi hotels and earning platinum ratings in Bureau Veritas hygiene audits.
Datta has a postgraduate diploma in housekeeping management from the Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development and a bachelor’s degree in hotel and hospitality operations from IIHM, Kolkata. At the same institution, she also finished the Management Development Program, which improved her leadership and strategic planning abilities even more.
