Within six months of Pran Pratistha, the roof of Ayodhya Ram Mandir was found to be “leaking.” The chief priest reported that “engineers are here.”

With the arrival of the monsoon of 2024, the roof of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir is ‘leaking’. The chief priest of the sacred site, Acharya Satyendra Das, expressed “surprise” at the event and said, “There are a lot of engineers here, and the Pran Pratishtha was held on January 22, but there is water leaking from the roof.” Nobody would have considered this.

As per a news media report, the chief priest of Ram Mandir stated that the roof of the temple began to leak immediately following the onset of rains. Water leaks, according to Acharya Satyendra Das, appeared right after the first rain, especially in the area around the idol of Ram Lalla. According to Acharya Satyendra Das, water leaks from above and collects close to the idol in the recently built Ram Temple because of improper drainage. The chief priest spoke about the Ram Mandir’s ongoing construction and acknowledged any claims to the contrary, but he expressed doubt that it would be finished by July 2025.

With concerns about the construction process, he demanded action and an investigation. The chief priest’s comments underscore doubts about meeting the construction deadline for the Ram Temple by July 2025 while emphasizing the need for scrutiny into recent water leakage issues near the revered Ram Lalla idol. The Ram Mandir chief priest cautioned that unless the issue is promptly addressed, it could complicate prayer rituals, particularly with the expected increase in rainfall.

The Pran Pratistha ceremony of Ram Lalla in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir was held on 22 January this year. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath, and JP Nadda, were present at the ceremony, which was presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After the prime minister unveiled a divisive, opulent Hindu temple on the site of a demolished mosque in Ayodhya City in January, the opposition succeeded in stealing the BJP’s seat in the city, a highly symbolic setback for Modi’s party. The INDIA Bloc was even more effective in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP stronghold of Modi, where it won the most seats and sent the highest number of lawmakers—eighty—to the legislature.
