Owaisi mentioned final week that if Muslims can’t be trustees of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) then how can a non-Muslim be on the Waqf board?

“This assertion is baseless, the waqf board is an actual property firm… How can he evaluate it with Tirumala? Tirumala is a Hindu temple. There have been calls for for a few years that non-Hindus shouldn’t be in Tirumala. It isn’t my private (opinion)… Sanatana Dharma says solely Hindus ought to be there. We’re engaged on that and we are going to resolve within the first board assembly,” he mentioned.

“Not even a single member of the 24 members of TTD Board (Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams) is a non-Hindu…The brand new Chairman of TTD says that the folks working there ought to be Hindu…We’re not towards this, we simply have an objection to the truth that Narendra Modi’s authorities is saying within the proposed invoice of Waqf that within the central Waqf Council, it has been made obligatory that 2 non-Muslim members ought to be there…Why are you bringing this provision within the Waqf invoice?” he mentioned.

“TTD is a board of the Hindu faith and Waqf Board is for the Muslim faith. There ought to be parity…When the trustees of TTD can’t be Muslims, how will a non-Muslim member be on the Waqf Board?” he added.

BR Naidu mentioned final week that he would focus on with the Centre his demand that non-Hindu workers working at Tirumala be transferred or given voluntary retirement.
