Shashank Vinay Amare was born on September 11, 1992, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. From an early age, Shashank showed a keen interest in culinary arts, which was further nurtured by his family. He pursued his secondary education at M.D. Vidyalaya, where he completed his SSC in 2010. Following this, he joined Nalanda College and earned his HSC in 2012.

Shashank continued his higher education at Patkar College under Karnataka University, where he pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management and Catering Studies. He completed his first year in 2014, his second year in 2015, and graduated in 2016. His academic journey didn’t stop there, as he went on to pursue a Master in Travel and Tourism Management at Patkar College, affiliated with Mumbai University, starting in 2022.

Professional Journey

Shashank’s professional career began with a training stint at Ramada Powai and Convention Center, where he gained experience in all departments over six months. This comprehensive training provided him with a solid foundation in the hospitality industry.

Sales Executive at Altman Cooks Private Limited

In August 2016, Shashank joined Altman Cooks Private Limited as a Sales Executive in the Marketing Department. During his tenure, he was responsible for arranging meetings with clients, coordinating client appointments, maintaining daily reports, and handling office routines. His role also involved sending quotations and dealing with client applications, showcasing his ability to manage administrative tasks efficiently.

Culinary Associate at JW Marriott

Shashank’s culinary journey took a significant step forward when he joined JW Marriott in Vile Parle as a Culinary Associate in May 2017. He worked there until April 2019, managing the day-to-day operations of the pastry and bakery section. His responsibilities included measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients, baking, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. As part of the culinary team, he managed the day-to-day operations of the pastry and bakery section, supervised a team, and ensured the production of high-quality pastries and desserts. His focus on low-fat, low-calorie, and gluten-free desserts highlighted his versatility and commitment to catering to diverse dietary needs.

In February 2022, Shashank joined Holiday Inn Mumbai International Airport as a Demi Chef de Partie. His role involved supporting the Section Chef, preparing and presenting a selection of dishes, and adhering to health and safety standards. He was responsible for monitoring stock movement, ensuring minimum kitchen waste, and implementing new menus and systems. His dedication to maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety was evident in his work.

Currently, Shashank serves as a Bakery Facility Chef and Lecturer at Patkar-Varde College of Hospitality and Catering in Goregaon. In this role, he prepares a wide variety of baked goods, creates new desserts to engage students, monitors baking ingredient stocks, and ensures the quality of materials and equipment. His role as a lecturer allows him to impart his extensive knowledge and skills to aspiring chefs, contributing to the future of the culinary industry.
