Cricketer Amit Mishra from India talked about his friendships with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who began playing together less than a year after graduation and went on to become the core of the Indian batting lineup for the following fifteen years.

Together, they accomplished great things, such as winning a T20 World Cup and quitting T20 Internationals on the same day. In his conversations with the two Indian cricket superstars, Mishra brought to light different dynamics despite the similarities in their fan bases and hitting prowess.

Mishra spoke of a good relationship that has existed between Rohit Sharma and himself from the latter’s early cricket career. “I met him the first day and I meet him today, he is the same person,” he said, highlighting Sharma’s consistency and their close bond. Mishra said that despite Sharma’s great accomplishments—including being the captain and winning five IPL championships—the two of them still joke around and get along well.

Mishra, on the other hand, disclosed a less close relationship with Virat Kohli, pointing out that their correspondence had decreased with time. He credited this shift to Kohli’s development as a result of his notoriety and leadership duties, which may have changed his perspective on how the Indian squad interacts with one another. Mishra stated that although Kohli remains respectful in their interactions, their connection isn’t as close as it once was.

Even Yuvraj Singh, the two-time Indian World Cup champion, had previously talked about how he was friends with the young Kohli, nicknamed “Cheeku,” but that friendship didn’t last as Virat Kohli became more well-known.

Mishra had similar views, pointing out that Kohli’s behaviour has changed significantly since taking over as captain and winning. “I have seen Virat change a lot,” he continued. Our conversation had nearly come to an end. They believe that people are contacting them for a reason when they become well-known and powerful. I never belonged to the group. I’ve known Cheeku since he was fourteen years old, back when he was addicted to pizza and would eat samosas every night. However, Virat Kohli and the Cheeku I knew are very different from one another.
