Ooredoo Maldives has unveiled the Ooredoo Calendar 2025, a remarkable blend of tradition and technology aimed at celebrating Maldivian folklore while introducing an innovative approach to interactive storytelling. The calendar was launched during a ceremony held at Ooredoo Headquarters in Hulhumale’, officiated by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Mr. Ali Ihusan. Marking a milestone, it is the first NFC-integrated calendar in the Maldives.

The Ooredoo Calendar 2025 spotlights characters from well-loved Maldivian folklore, incorporating digital engagement to bring them to life. Featuring timeless tales such as ‘Foolhudhigu Handi’ and ‘Safaru Kaiydha’, the calendar highlights 12 iconic characters, each representing the essence of Maldivian heritage.

More than a traditional calendar, this is an interactive platform where users can engage directly with the characters through advanced AI chatbot technology. These characters will share stories, respond to questions, and provide insights, offering a novel way to experience Maldivian folklore. A new character will be unlocked each month, enabling users to explore a fresh narrative as the year progresses.

“The Ooredoo Calendar 2025 reflects our commitment to preserving Maldivian culture while utilising technology to make it accessible and engaging for future generations,” said Hussain Niyaz, Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo Maldives. “By blending the nostalgia of folklore with the excitement of digital interactivity, we are not only celebrating our rich traditions but also ensuring their longevity for years to come.”
