More than 100,000 tourists visited the Maldives during the first 18 days of this year, according to statistics from the Ministry of Tourism.

Data from the ministry indicates that 117,532 tourists arrived in the Maldives by January 18. This represents a 9.7% increase compared to the same period last year.

On average, 6,530 tourists entered the country daily. The breakdown of tourist accommodations shows:

  • 69.6% of tourists stayed in resorts.
  • 25.4% stayed in guesthouses.
  • Hotels accounted for 2.5% of total tourists.
  • Liveaboards also accounted for 2.5%.

Russia led as the top source market for tourists this year, with 15,077 arrivals, accounting for 12.8% of total visitors.

  • United Kingdom: 10,621 tourists
