InterContinental Hotels Introduces Jetlag-Fighting Technology with Timeshifter App
InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is putting the newest jetlag-fighting technology in the hands of guests, allowing them to be at their best while they travel the world. The cooperation is one example of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts’ revolutionary development, which is being rolled out internationally. With a deep awareness of the different lifestyles of modern travellers, InterContinental is launching a series of ‘Intentional Flexibility’ initiatives to assist guests in effortlessly navigating their daily lives.
The Timeshifter app is based on the most recent circadian research and creates individualized jetlag mitigation programs to assist travelers in addressing the underlying cause and symptoms of jet lag. Plans are based on guests’ chronotype, normal sleep pattern, itinerary, and personal preferences, resulting in a fully personalized solution tailored to each trip, whether it’s a quick business trip or a more complex multi-city trip, using the same algorithm used by astronauts, elite athletes, and Formula 1 drivers to perform at their peak.
Timeshifter is a component of the reinvented InterContinental guest experience. Access to the app is supported by a new restorative guest room concept built in collaboration with neuroscience-based designer Isabelle Sjövall, as well as a menu of nutritionally dense foods to counteract the body’s natural response to travel, with the goal of tackling travel weariness holistically. These new efforts are being implemented to guarantee that guests feel refreshed, repaired, and reenergized when they stay at one of InterContinental’s approximately 220 hotels globally.
A variety of scientifically validated, nutritionally dense meals meant to counteract energy slumps and improve vitality are also being added to all-day dining menus at hotels across the world. These recipes are deliberately crafted to include foods with qualities that counteract the body’s natural weariness reaction to travel while also providing a taste of local culture. Eggs, for example, are high in vitamin B12, which inhibits melatonin, the sleep-inducing hormone, and helps encourage wakefulness, while magnesium-rich green leafy vegetables help balance variations in mineral levels in the body induced by travel.
InterContinental is transforming room spaces to be more adaptable in conjunction with neuroscience-based designer Isabelle Sjövall. Tones, textures, and lighting, as well as our relationship to nature and biophilia, are all considered in this design perspective. The objective is to enable visitors to find healing and rest within their rooms, as well as revitalization and focus.
InterContinental guests get complimentary access to the Timeshifter jet lag plan for use on their inbound and outbound journeys. Timeshifter, created in collaboration with world-renowned scientists, is based on the most recent research in sleep and circadian neuroscience and creates tailored recommendations to overcome jetlag using the body’s natural circadian rhythms, ensuring guests arrive refreshed and ready to explore their destination.
