Eliminate the NEET examination: In the midst of the controversy surrounding paper leaks, Mamata Banerjee writes to PM Modi, saying “this will help.”

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal and leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), requested that the NEET exam be “abolished.” After a paper on the incredibly competitive national examination leaked and multiple students received perfect scores, a brawl broke out. Following the controversy over paper leaks, the TMC leader requested that PM Modi return to the system of state-by-state examination administration.

Mamata Banerjee demanded severe punishment for anyone connected to the purported anomalies in the NEET-UG exam in her letter to PM Modi.

“I kindly request that you reconsider and move quickly to eliminate the NEET exam and reinstate the prior system in which state governments administered this test.

This will contribute to the aspirant students’ confidence in the system and help return things to normal,” she said.

Exam Row for NEET-UG 2024

The Union Education Ministry has stated that the malpractice instances were “localized” or “isolated” and that it was unfair to risk the careers of thousands of applicants who correctly passed the exam, in response to calls for the cancellation of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG) exam, which was held on May 5.

The Union Education Ministry canceled UGC-Net just one day after it was held due to instances of malpractice and paper leaks.

CSIR-NET was delayed in a cascading manner. Less than 24 hours before it was scheduled to take place, the additional NEET-PG exam was canceled.

IPC sections 120-B and 420 are the grounds for the criminal conspiracy and cheating allegations made in the CBI’s formal complaint. To select junior research fellows, assistant professors, and PhD scholars, the National Testing Agency (NTA) administered the UGC-NET-2024 exam in two shifts across the country on June 18.

The government announced that the “integrity of the examination may have been compromised” and therefore postponed the test.

For admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other relevant courses at government and private universities across the country, the National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the NEET-UG exam.
