The Election Fee of India on Monday introduced the change of date of by-polls in 14 meeting constituencies from November 13 to November 20.

The constituencies witnessing change of bypoll dates are in Kerala, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. The ballot panel had mounted November 13 because the date for bypolls in 48 meeting constituencies and two Lok Sabha seats.

“Representations have been obtained within the Fee from numerous recognised nationwide and state political events (together with BJP, INC, BSP, RLD) and a few social organisations for change of date for ballot in some Meeting constituencies having by-elections on thirteenth November, 2024, contemplating massive scale social, cultural and non secular engagements on that day which can trigger inconvenience to massive variety of individuals, give rise to numerous logistic points and will result in diminished voters taking part through the ballot,” the ballot panel stated.

The constituencies that can now vote on November 20 are as follows:-

Maharashtra and Jharkhand meeting elections

The bypolls to 14 constituencies shall be held with Maharashtra meeting elections and the second part of Jharkhand polls.

Elections to 288-member Maharashtra meeting shall be held on November 20. The ruling Mahayuti alliance comprising Bharatiya Janata Get together (BJP), Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led NCP is going through problem from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance. 
 The MVA includes Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP).

Within the 2019 meeting elections, the BJP received 105 seats, the Shiv Sena 56, and the Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, the Shiv Sena 63, and the Congress 42.

Polling for the Jharkhand meeting elections shall be held on November 13 and November 20. Counting of votes for Maharashtra, Jharkhand and bypolls shall be held on November 23.
