BHU Introduces New Scholarships and Expands Existing Ones for 2024

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has announced the introduction of three new scholarships under its Pratidana initiative, aimed at supporting students across various faculties. These scholarships are designated for the Faculty of Education, Central Hindu Boys School, and Central Hindu Girls School, and have been made possible through generous donations.

Additionally, during its latest session in April 2024, the BHU Academic Council approved a significant expansion of its scholarship program. Highlights include:

  • 14 Merit-cum-Means Scholarships: These scholarships are intended to support deserving students across different disciplines within the university.
  • Gold Medal Establishment: A new gold medal has been instituted to recognize outstanding academic achievement, further motivating students to excel in their studies.

Furthermore, BHU has added specific scholarships tailored to various academic programs, demonstrating its commitment to fostering excellence and supporting students in their educational journeys. Some of the newly approved scholarships are:

  • Biswanath and Meera Bhattacharya Scholarship: For a 2nd year student of MA Sanskrit, effective from the academic session 2025-26.
  • Mahamana Malaviya Biotechnology Scholarship: Specifically for a 2nd year MSc Biotechnology student, commencing from the academic session 2024-25.
  • J N Gupta and Savitri Devi Scholarship: Targeted towards a 2nd year student of MSc Physics, starting from the academic session 2024-25.
  • Jhingan Sahu Memorial Scholarship: Designed for a 1st year student of MFA in Textile Design, starting in the academic session 2024-25.
  • C N R Rao Scholarships: Two scholarships allocated for final year students pursuing BPA in Vocal Music and Instrumental Music respectively, effective from the academic session 2025-26.
  • Uday Pratap Scholarship: Specifically for a 2nd year student of MSc Agriculture in Mycology and Plant Pathology, starting from the academic session 2025-26.
  • Akshaibar & Jogeshwari Giri Gold Medal: Established from the academic year 2023-24 at the Institute of Management Studies to recognize exceptional academic performance.
  • The Awadh Raj Kumar Scholarship: Created for a class 9 student for the academic session 2024-25.
  • Ramswaroop Jamnadevi Maheshwari Scholarship: Available for a 1st year MBA student, effective from the academic session 2024-25.
  • SGVP Swaminarayan Scholarships: Five scholarships earmarked for students within the Faculty of SVDV, starting from the academic session 2023-24.

These initiatives underscore BHU’s dedication to promoting academic excellence and inclusivity, ensuring that deserving students receive the necessary support to pursue their educational goals.
