Allied Blenders & Distillers (ABD), one of India’s leading spirits companies, has acquired Fullarton Distilleries’ premium craft spirits portfolio for INR 40 crore. This strategic acquisition further consolidates ABD’s position in the rapidly growing premium alcohol segment. The move is a significant milestone for entrepreneur Rajiv Thadani, whose previous venture, Uniglobe Packaging Pvt Ltd., was acquired by Amcor in 2012.
The acquisition brings Fullarton’s highly regarded brands—Woodburns Whisky, Pumori Small Batch Gin, and Segredo Aldeia Rum—into ABD’s expanding portfolio. Launched post-2019, these brands have made a notable impact in India’s fast-evolving craft spirits market and are recognised for their exceptional quality in the premium segment.
Rajiv Thadani, Managing Director of Fullarton Distilleries, commented, “This acquisition validates the potential within India’s craft spirits industry. Joining forces with ABD’s platform is a testament to the quality and consumer demand we’ve nurtured over the years. With ABD’s market expertise and strong distribution network, these brands are primed for accelerated growth.”
ABD’s acquisition aligns with its strategy to diversify into premium categories beyond its flagship brands. With India’s alcoholic beverage market expected to see steady growth, particularly in the premium segment, this acquisition allows ABD to tap into Fullarton’s artisanal expertise and established brand equity.
The brands acquired have already garnered global acclaim for their craftsmanship: Woodburns Whisky: A bold, smoky Indian whisky matured in charred barrels, offering a rich oak and caramel profile.
Pumori Small Batch Gin: A London Dry-style gin distilled with Himalayan juniper, Gondhoraj lemon, and hand-selected Indian botanicals, delivering a crisp, citrus-forward taste.
Segredo Aldeia Rum: A smooth rum available in White and Café expressions, with the White Rum being light and tropical, and the Café Rum infused with roasted coffee notes.
While Fullarton Distilleries’ flagship brands move under ABD’s umbrella, the company will continue as an independent entity, exploring further opportunities in the craft spirits space. Rajiv Thadani’s successful track record across packaging and premium spirits highlights his ability to build scalable businesses that attract strategic interest.
Haresh Jhuremalani, Co-founder of Fullarton Distilleries, added, “This acquisition is not only a business milestone but also underscores India’s growing influence in the global craft spirits landscape. With ABD’s extensive market reach, these brands are well-positioned for the next phase of expansion.”
